Biography:

Mark Herndon was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Southern Maryland. He has served as the Sculpture Technician for the Corcoran College of Art and Design and as an adjunct Assistant Professor in Metals and Jewelry for the University of Texas at Arlington.

His work has been featured on the cover of “The Anvil’s Ring” the quarterly publication of The Artist-Blacksmith Association of North America, and in the pages of “ Metalsmith” the quarterly publication of the Society of North American Goldsmiths.

His is a member of the College Art Association, The Society of North American Goldsmiths and The Artist-Blacksmith Association of North America.

Teaching Statement:

“My goal is to inspire students to improve their understanding of craftsmanship and problem solving, assist them in transmitting their ideas, and nurture their understanding of the metals and jewelry culture. I intend to guide students into becoming knowledgeable and effective metalsmiths who create objects using their own unique vision as both individuals and Native peoples.”
